Santa Barbara, CA – Today, Mayor Cathy Murillo’s re-election campaign announced earning the endorsement of the Sierra Club Los Padres Chapter. The early endorsement from one of the region’s leading and most respected environmental organizations underscores Mayor Murillo’s track record of results on environmental issues and strong support among Santa Barbara’s influential environmental community.
“Mayor Cathy Murillo’s leadership on environmental issues is second to none,” said Katie Davis, President of the Sierra Club Los Padres Chapter. “She has led and delivered results on important issues like implementation of the Community Choice Energy Program and reducing our dependence on fossil fuels, to expanding alternative transit and making downtown more pedestrian-friendly. Santa Barbara needs Mayor Murillo’s leadership, and the Sierra Club Los Padres Chapter strongly supports her re-election.”
“It is an honor to have the support, trust, and confidence of the Sierra Club Los Padres Chapter,” said Mayor Murillo. “I have worked hard to continue to make Santa Barbara a state and national leader on the key issues of environmental justice, sustainability, and fighting climate change. As Mayor, I will continue to increase our use of renewable energy, invest in alternative transit, modernize building codes to improve sustainability, and get oil and gas out of Santa Barbara.”
